... We're still going to make the playoffs. MARK MY WORDS. Yes, we're just 6-5 but we're too good of a team to not finish in the top 8 of a conference that has actually lost a lot of talent (the east may be better this year).  We will make the playoffs, I'm willing to put any dollar amount down on that. We won't get the top seed, but hey, we'll be there at the end of the season. Everyone is freaking out. Yes, Roy is hurt. Yes, we don't look good on offense. Yes, we do have a rebounding problem with our bigs. But it's just 11 games into the season. Relax everyone... We'll get those things fixed.. and remember Joel and Greg should both be back before the all star break if not shortly after (Joel is coming back Nov. 26th I read).  With those two, some of our problems are solved. The two loses to OKC were both due to lack of rebounding.  People keep saying, make a trade NOW, bring Roy off the bench, let Babbitt and Armon play more minutes. NO GUYS. Give it a tiny bit of time, and we'll be alright. Management will step up when needed, and the players will too.
Go Blazers, top 8 for sure come late April.
    Peace

Where we place is dependent on Roy's health. Flat out we are not a playoff team without Brandon Roy, unless LaMarcus Aldridge can continue to develop his post game.

Finally a positive note! Yes we will make the playoffs, and yes we may have to do that without Brandon.  The team will respond by using fast breaks more and not the half court stuff we've seen mostly do to the injured ROY.  Everyone on this team can run but ROY.  ROY needs surgery and he better just get it in both Knees at the same time.  No more of this soreness and slowing the team down!  I'm willing to be without ROY until he is tatally healthy enough to complete one season.  We keep allowing him to play hurt therefore slowing down the team making it harder to get easy baskets.

This by no means is a note bashing anyone just stating that we have to shut ROY down, and take care of him.  I love to win as much as the next person but not at the cost of ending someones livelyhood!

SHUT HIM DOWN!  REMEMBER WHAT WE DID TO WALTON AND HIS FEET.

If the Blazers lose to Memphis, I say trade for Mike Conley. Well anyway, win or lose, I just want that guy to play in this team. Greg Oden might want to play sooner than expected if GM Rich Cho can pull up that trade. Hehehe...

Anyway, I agree with Bertram that the team's direction depends on Roy's health. I also agree with civilhold that Roy needs surgery. What just aggravates my pessimism for this season is that the team's top brass seem to be silent about the condition of our star player.
I think he has to take a rest rest and have surgery sooner than later so that the team still has time to build chemistry and learn to play without him while it is still too early in the season, just like what happened to the Washington Wizards during the 2007-2008 season.
Also, remember what happened to Amar'e Stoudemire. He also had surgery at both knees and missed most of the 2005-2006 season. The team reached the playoffs that season because they built chemistry early on, thereby giving Nash another MVP season. When Amar'e came back, he became the behemoth he once was.

Point is, rest Roy this early. Give him surgery, team build chemistry this early, someone else step up to play, everybody happy.
I am a fan of the Portland Trail Blazers. Period.

Good points guys, but Roy doesn't have a meniscus to do surgery on, so isn't surgery really not an option??? Rest is an option, but management is saying that he CAN play under these conditions, so I think we need to play him at least 20 mins/game or so to help us out, since we don't really have much depth right now.  I think even if we let him sit, say, 1 month, we are still a playoff team if the rest of the guys are healthy, and playing well.  I think we need to wait until about January to figure out where this team really is and when we've played many more games

It bothers me that every time something like this happens everyone runs screaming for the hills asking for a trade. there is nothing wrong with our team. i feel like our team is stronger now than it has been in a while, and bringing back Joel next week is going to improve on that even more. we have a GOOD team. a great team even... look at all the set backs and injuries we faced last season, and we stilllll pulled 50 wins. too many people are far too quick to panic in my opinion. those guys have heart, and they arent going to just lay down and die because brandons knee is sore. you darn well better believe that brandon isnt going to take it lying down either.

i love this team, and will believe in them no matter what.

@blazersforlife234:  I HOPE you're right, but FEAR you are wrong.  The BOTTOM half of the west has gotten better.  That may very well be this teams demise in the end.

@thegloryofcristi:  this time around though, it IS Brandon, and very well may NOT be a short term thing.  Worse, it may be a permanent thing.  With his new contract being what it is in terms of years?  That, along with the undeniable fact that HE was the reason for the overachieving through adversity, the leader by example, arguably the heart and soul of this team?  That is the reason for concern.

Please don't misunderstand.  I'm a fan to the end and am not jumping ship.  Just a realist and being objective here.  Nobody stepped in soon enough, to save Brandon from Brandon.  Sad situation.

This team was built around Roy and is now gutted like a fish without him.  Right or wrong, good or bad, that's the way I see it.  The shell of a team, without a motor.

Agree with Bertram 100%.  Without BRoy, no post season.

Are you (no personal attacks-strike 2)?

"There is nothing wrong with our team" : No, except our all-star is looking at one of the most serious-career-ending-injuries  in the history of B-BALL.

"I feel like our team is stronger now than it has been in a while" : Okay, no. Just no. We are missing our 2 starting centers... Przybila and Oden. Yes, Camby was a great addition by what I like to call "the better GM (GO KP)" but still, you can't top the twin towers. On top of that, again, we don't have our franchise player....

"Look at all the setbacks and injuries last season" : Last season we didn't have GSW as a competitor, Grizzly's, Clippers etc. Point is, this year, all the teams that were garbage now have the ability to steal a win from us. The Western conference is not as soft as it was.

To counter your point further, all the top experts predict a 42 ~ 45 win season which might not be playoffs. Mike Rice predicted a 47 win season, which I feel is too generous.

To be honest, I think we will make the playoffs but I'm predicting another first round exit. If you want to know how accurate my predictions have been within the last 2 weeks, feel free to read some of my previous posts. I predicted the Brandon Roy injury, I predicted the 2 point loss to OKC (most recent), I predicted we would have a 6-5 record, I predicted the loss to NOH. I could go on.

Exactly, realistic! God forbid anyone would come around here and post entire threads on Oberto being MVP or Sean Marks going for 20 points.

As to your predictions, you failed to mention your failed predictions of Oberto scoring 20 points, Sean Marks scoring 20 points, Oberto is going to be league mvp, oh and why didn't you predict that Oberto would retire?

And are you jealous of Casey or something Tiki? You seem to be really angry for no good reason at christi.

Agreed. Calm down and wait and see how this team plays with a Oden AND Joel for at least 10 games or so and let's find out ALL the details regarding Brandon Roy's health.

Casey gave me a shout out and he takes my questions for the live chat on his streams.

Casey is a bro, I told him that he seemed chill his response "Tiki, I don't know if I'm chill while I'm sitting here sweating..." lol

I'm defending the guy, this is how he makes money, take your job and pretend an annoying girl has a sign "I <3 YOU". It gets annoying after a while. Especially when he relies on chat as a source to cover his show, he has to sift through dumb comments like "I LOVE YOU CASEY", the guy is doing his job, she could make it easier for him.

this some how did not calm my nerves, i still think that the Clippers could beat this team.
so, i dont see how anyone who cares about this team could be comfortable with that fact.
