Whats with them not passing the ball yesterday? Roy played okay but not so good and every one els like LMA, Frye, Outlaw relied with there jump shot, and it did not work but they kept doing it? And R udy did not even touch the ball, he was open 3-4 times asking for the ball and they did not pass? When he did have the ball he was the only one who took it to Yao and got Yao and took him down with a blocking foul (and he is a skiny 6-6) and got a 3pt play, he knows presher, he played in the olypics and on the Spanish international team does his teammates not know that or somthing????

I think they tried to match their game to what they thought play off B-ball was and forgot what had been working so well all year. Jason Quick mentioned one of the guys saying that in one of his blogs and I couldn't agree more. I think we'll see more assists and more attempts at going to the basket tomorrow!

What i noticed was a lack of d. Yao had a free open shot almost every time he shot, and when it wasn't an open easy shot, he was fouled. I don't know what was going on in that game, but i hope the d steps it up. Also, i kind of understand the lack of passing. Everyone feels they need to be a playmaker. They aren't remembering what they just did to the nuggets squad the game before that. Not a single starter had over double digit scoring. (At least not for like the first 30-35 minutes or so. I know Brandon Roy only scored like 6 or so. They need to pass, get the open jumper and take it to the Rockets when they are expecting perimeter play. I am hoping Game 2 will be much better. Hopefully the jitters will be gone, and the Blazers will remember that EXCEPTIONAL teamwork is what got them into the playoffs.
I am a fan of go ahead and close off the paint, we'll still destroy you from the perimeter.

Saturday was embarrassing and humiliating, but I haven't heard anyone come up with what I consider the biggest reason for our loss...we got outcoached. Rick Adelman had his team ready, knew exactly the two things he had to do, and had his team do them to perfection.
Get the crowd out of it. For the first five minutes of the game, the crowd was loud and in it. Once they built the lead, it was sit on our hands time.
Go early and hard inside and get Joel and Oden out of it with fouls.
Outcoached. Adelman had his team ready, put his plan in place, and then had his team run it to perfection. I would even guarantee you that before the game, Adelman was talking to the refs telling them that Joel and Oden beat up on poor Yao, and please let him play. Adelman knew that Yao was on and he road that horse early and often. Mac had Brandon doing the same thing and he took him out of the game. As far as anyone I have talked to has seen, Mac made no adjustments on Yao. Everyone knows you front him and keep the ball out of his hands. It didn't happen. Then in the second half, when they stopped going to Yao, Mac made no adjustments again, to take care of Artest and Scola. Mac needs to Man up and admit that a large part of the first loss was due to his coaching, or lack there of.

On the flip side there weren't a lot of turnovers. Infact Portland had only 8 turnovers that is one of the lowest numbers all season. Houston had 12 turnovers. I think that is something positive to build on. I think with this game being in the past, the jitters will be gone and shots will fall. I am ready for our first Playoff win in 6 years!!! RIP CITY!

I completely agree with you. The Rockets were much much more prepared.

But i would hope that when the players realize they are being raped in the paint, or on the perimeter, whether the coach says anything or not, they would make the adjustment theirself.

I just hope the Blazers got that salt in their mouth and are ready to move on to the sweetness of victory. Because if they cant step it up and still happen to win the series. They pretty much have the Lakers next round, and if they are losing this bad to Houston. It will be pretty hard to have hope next round.

Although I see where you are going, I think it is a little over the top. We shot 9% from beyond the arc! 41% overall. You don't win games shooting that way. Yes there were some adustmets that could have been made, but when a guy is that hot, it doesn't matter if you front him, he's gonna get his. It isn't like this is Theo Ratliff were talking about. Yao is 7'6" and actually has some skills. It also isn't the Yao of two years ago that would get bullied everywhere he went. He is more agressive and thus more dominant. Game two will be a different story. Lets not take it all out of context either, Rick is an amazing coach, he led the Blazers to the NBA Finals, led the Kings to Western Conference Finals against LA and should have one if the refs hadn't blown it. Not to say Nate isn't but of all the coaches in the league, the best are Sloan, Jackson, Nate, Pop, and Rick ( in no particular order). It just so happens that they are all in the same conference. All these guys can out coach each other on a given night. It is like watching a championship chess match. You can run the scenarios 10 times and come up with different outcomes. It only makes these matchups more interesting.

True True. lol. i honestly think Yao is incredibly underrated for his offensive side of the ball. he hits shots you just dont want a center to be able to hit unless he is on your team. lol

The entire team needs to step it up tomorrow, they know that. You can't point at any single person, including Nate.
It was tough to watch Saturday. Our Blazers are growing up , and this was one of those lessons they had to learn from. Sometimes you fall on your face taking your first steps. These are their first steps into the playoffs.
Tomorrow is another day, I hope the crowd shows more support the entire game, regardless of the score.

Lets Go Blazers !!!! Bring on the Rockets !!!!

Glad to hear from you again Kim. I agree, but all the conversations that I had heard left Nate out. I believe he had his share of this loss as well is all.
