we're 3-0, including the first two wins of a four-game road trip. chicago is next on monday, nov. 1.

the bulls are tough, even though they won't have Boozer. Joakim Noah, Derrick Rose, Ronnie Brewer and the rest of the bulls will be ready. so, what will it take to beat them?

    Hey Kassandra

The 3-0 start being the first of it's kind for the team in several years, that's gotta motivate the guys to keep it going.  I don't know their record on the road last year, but it appears it's already going to be + what their record was in the previous season away from home.

Now as for keys for the next game

    1.  Free throws
These are more important than anything, I'd say even more important than securing rebounds.  LMA had a tough night tonight from the stripe, especially towards the end, when clutch free-throws are of the most importance.  Stick him on the line and just tell him breathe, stay calm and collected, and let's see some improvement on that end :)
    2.  Rebounds
Blazers are already doing a stellar job out-rebounding the opposition, with all their offensive boards.  Rebounding didn't come over easy in tonight's matchup.  They've gotta box out more and crash those boards.
    3.  3 point defense
As seen in tonight's game, Walker and Chandler destroyed from behind the arc.  3 apiece for both of them.  Blazers have got to defend and not give the opposition open looks.
    4.  Stay aggressive
Giving up a huge lead and trailing isn't good.  They've gotta focus.  Blazers have the lead, and they start to relax and rush their shots and are sloppy with their passing.  They've gotta work on keeping the rhythm going, standing on top of everything

    Those are my keys

    Thoughts?

Hold Chicago to 90 points and it will be an easy win.

Limiting offensive rebounds. That (almost) killed us vs the knicks.

Agree on Noah. Just a big oaf who spends all game talking trash. But I think this game should be a W as long as take care of business. The Bulls need Boozer to have any sort of inside game at all, and their guards, other than Rose, are not stellar. I think it'll be tough for them to create opportunities since they really can't look for much on the blocks. This should also help us defending the three's as we won't have to sulk to stop the one man wrecking crew named Carlos Boozer. I'm thinking something along the lines of 102-91 Blazers!

-Tighten up that D. Giving up too many layups and guards are penetrating the paint at will. Rose will have a field day if we don't tighten that up.
-Free Throws & FG %. Yeah, i'm looking at you Aldridge
    -Rebounds.

Well coming from the same guy who wants us to sign AI, I don't think it matters much.

Also I'm seeing a few people saying Joel may play in the Chicago game? Where are they hearing that from? Is that what they are saying on Comcast or something? I haven't heard of that yet.

Noah is a beast on the boards, so shutting him down will be key.  we will need to drive it in and get him in foul trouble.  I would love to see Aldridge take it at Noah straight to the hoop.  Rose WILL have a good game, but one person can't beat us.  We have the ability to shut down the rest of the team.  I don't care if Rose has 30 on the night, I think we can still win by 10.  Thank goodness Boozer is out though.

Keep Rose out of the paint. That's where his play-making starts, once he's in that area someones going to get a open shot or it's buckets for him.

    Once again, control the boards.

I think the main thing here is to contain Derrick Rose.  You might not be able to stop him but slowing him down is key to prevent him from having a big game.

The next is to win the battle of the boards, especially offensive rebounds -- Noah had 8 the last game and 7 the previous -- so keep Noah from snatching those rebounds.

Another is to assert Aldridge on the offensive end.  Nobody on the Bull's should be able to stop him.

Taking all these into consideration, then they should come out with the win thus keeping the Blazers undefeated in the young NBA season.

Rose is a load to handle, but even more important than containing him is to contain Noah.  We can not Noah dominate the paint.  That means Aldrige is a key ingredient for us to win,  Yes we will have Camby and Oberto on Noah mostly, but Aldrige has to grab 10 boards!

Holding Rose to a mediocre game and holding off Noah on the offensive boards will be key in my opinion. Anyone remember when we beat this team by like 40? Was it last year or the year before? Can't quite recall.

It was last year at the RG. It was a fun game! Rose was WAY off though. I was in the arena and just forgot he was even in the game. I doubt that will happen this time. Noah had one monster dunk on Oden, but that was really his only highlight.

Different year, different Chicago team. It will be a tough game, even with Boozer out. We NEED TO get better at help defense... not just in the 4th quarter, but the entire game. We lucked out on that win in NYC, we cant do that against a much better team in Chicago. We may win, but it's going to have to be a total team effort on both sides of the ball. I'll be in front of my TV, it should be good!

1.LA needs to get at least 20 and 10 and shoot 50%.  No more 7 for 20 like he's been doing.
    2. DEFENSE- Portland needs someone to step up and shut down D-Rose.  If he has a bad game Chicago is nothing.  Luol Deng is the only other offensive threat to us.
    3. Free throws/foul trouble- Simple, we need to shoot more and make more, Portland has to be aggresive but do their work early on D.

    Keys to the game:

    1. Contain Rose -- He's obviously the playmaker for their team, limiting him to 20 and 6 will be an accomplishment.

    2. Close out quarters -- Last night we had a hard time closing out the 2nd and 3rd quarters..  Building a lead is one thing, keeping it is another

    3. Rebounds -- The main reason we've been winning this season is our domination on the offensive and defensive boards.. With Boozer out we should be able to keep it up.

    Lets go Blazers!

    1. Put points on the board.
    2. Prevent the opposing team from putting more points on the board than us.

First and foremost, J. Noah is NOT garbage. He's probably the 3rd or 4th best center in the East, arguably the best rebounder and hardest worker. If we don't pick it up on the glass and get outworked and outrebounded as we did in NY, this one's over. Noah will be relentless if he sees an opening. We need to make sure to put a body on him and Gibson so we can get the boards nad take off on the fast break.

To me, this is a "Show Me" game. We beat 3 teams we should have beat. I do give us extra credit for winning on two teams home openers, but the Clippers are 0-3 and the Knicks are well..still the Knicks. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled to be unbeaten and am already rooting for losses by other playoff teams in hopes for some early playoff positioning. But, I expected us to be 3-0 right now. I want to see if we can beat one of the East's Top 4 squads on their home floor. They'll be shorthanded as well, minus Boozer, but Rose is still lethal. I think these next two games against Eastern playoff teams  will be big tests for the Blazers. If we can split, I'll feel really good about where the season is headed.

Noah is not garbage but he is a whiner I think Camby can probably punk him out and send him back to his hairdresser to get a new perm. Without Boozer we should handle the team well enough if we play our 'A' game.
Rose is going to score no matter what we do we just have to make sure he does not get ANY easy looks.

Should be an interesting game tonight! Yes, I think it is our first test - D-Rose is a beast, Noah is as well. I'll be really pumped if we get this game. Enjoy everyone and hope you feel sorry for me, at least a little bit! :-)

    Two random things:

    1. Met two young kids (20 yrs old or so) from near Chicago at the small Indian restaurant I frequent here in Prague, just a step away from my flat (yes, I say "flat" now, argh! silly Euro slang!) What are the odds on a night we are playing the Bulls? :-P

    2. Just saw Jason Quick's tweet that both at tonight's game and the next one at MIL are going to have moments of silence for Mr. Lucas - classy move by both organizations.

    Alright, peace out.

Wow, you obviously have never seen him play so, this statement is just erroneous on all accounts.

I love how when people see someone they dont like, they make up the most BOGUS statements about them.

I just wonder if Tom Thibodeau approached Nate before tip and said, "this is going to hurt me alot more than it's going to hurt you."  That was usually what I heard growing up, right before I was dealt a whoopin'.

Hate to beat a dead horse, but this Blazers team still looks to be searching for an identity at the offensive end.  The late run made by the second unit was evidence of what happens when you attack the rim and don't settle for jumpshots.  Nate, if you're going to have a jumpshooting team, you had better go out and find yourself some jumpshooters.

Thankfully, Stars Wars: The Phantom Menace was on, giving me something worthwhile to watch.

Bulls shoot 60% from the field, Deng finally shows up for the season, and we shoot 0-14 from behind the arc. Like the effort from the rooks to put together that late run but it wasen't in the cards for us tonight. Very little to no energy from our guys, just not in the basketball mindset tonight.

Tough game, but expected. You can't win them all, esp. on the road and the team looked emotionally distant from the game. You could tell their heads and hearts were in another place. I hope they can find a way to put all the distractions behind them and play a strong 48 tonight in Milwaukee.

OK for some reason this wasn't their best team game, and Deng was on fire, yet also open too much as well. Blah blah blah nothing you guys don't already know.

The subject I really want to touch on is what the hell happened in that last 5 minutes Nate?!? I can't believe Nate gave up the game that early, and even then with the subs they got the game down to 7 points for a sec. Why the hell didn't Nate call a time out and get at least Roy and Aldridge in there? Let me state I really respect the coach and think Nate is great, however, though still wasn't their best game, I feel we lost the game ultimately at the end due to the coaching decisions.

Not only all that, but also the times he has Batum playing at the 4 when it doesn't seem like any real reason to (besides maybe spread the floor on offense), though I know he is capable of defending the 4, Batum still isn't the best low post defender when on the ball. So seeing Nate play Batum there at some points confuses me a lil at times early here in the season. And also not playing Andre Miller at the end of the Knicks game... what was up with that?

I know it is early in the season, and I still love our coach, but every game counts and is important and I feel Nate blew it last night in Chicago. I just can't help it to question his overall gameplan/coaching decisions right now. I'm now screaming "new coach" or any thing, but I really hope Nate can take a step back and see he has Cunningham, he has Oberto, so use them! 4 man roto with them and LA and Camby at the 4 and 5 spots I would imagine would work fine against whomever right now. That just bringing me back to why I don't understand Batum at the 4, when we really aren't terribly short handed or any thing exactly.

All in all go Blazers tonight against the Bucks! But I'll be watching the coaching throughout the night.

joakim noah had 28 double doubles with 31 minutes a game on average.
Brandon Roy had 49 double doubles with 30.1 minutes a game on average.
Joel Pryzbilla had 14 double doubles with 14 minutes a game on average.

Which brings me to my next point. It is easier for a center to grab more double doubles because a center can get 10 rebounds a lot easier then 10+ steals or assissts.

Noah is garbage. He is very overrated.

Joakim's highest average Blocks per game in his career is 1.6

Theo Ratliff's highest average Blocks per game in his career was 4.4

NOAH'S GOT A LONG WAYS TO GO.

Not only that, he has no class. He said would tell press conferences over and over again how much "cleveland sucks". When was the last time we had a center talk smack on another team like that? He can't even back it up! He fights with James like they're in the same player class, lol.

Oh yeah, in 2009 and 2010 season, he averaged 40 MINUTES A GAME AND ONLY HAD 28 DOUBLE DOUBLES.  I was looking at the minutes of his 2008 2009 career.

This Center is really trash. The only good thing about him is the fact he has high energy. His high energy is not worth it when half of it is going to make his ego look big against King James and the other half to run up and down the court. I would rate him nowhere near the top in centers for the East. Boston has a starter, 2nd string and 3rd string center better than Noah. Terrible center.
