    Via True Hoop-
Look who’s all grown up. It’s still an adjustment to think of the Portland Trail Blazers as the been-there, done-that team, the wise old heads who know exactly what to do when it matters most.

But LaMarcus Aldridge and Brandon Roy are in their fifth seasons now, and with Marcus Camby (36 years old) and Andre Miller (34) in the starting lineup the average age of Portland’s top six players is 27.7. If you look at the “Age of Champions” box that accompanied this story you’ll see the Blazers are in that target zone of youth and experience. They’re old enough to know what to do, young enough to still be able to do it.

Aldridge and Roy still remember the bitter defeats, the times they had a game in hand – had it -- and then Tim Duncan’s Spurs or Kevin Garnett’s Timberwolves snatched it from them.

    Now it’s their turn.

The Trail Blazers have owned crunch time in their first two games, outscoring the Suns and Clippers by a combined 59-28. You could practically hear the admiration in Baron Davis’ voice after what the Trail Blazers did to his Clippers, notably a 15-0 run in the heart of the final period.

“The last six minutes it’s all confidence and execution,” Davis said. “A team like that, they’ve been in 100 games like that. They know what it takes. They know how to dig down, find that extra shot, play that extra second.”

Isn't it nice having some experience around? We have a perfect balance of youth and veteran leadership in my opinion and I think we'll continue to see it pay off down the stretch. Camby and Dre have been invaluable to both of those 4th quarter runs this year.

When I watched NBA around the table (if you don't know what that is it's a show on ESPN where the NBA writers of ESPN sit around a table and talk basketball and make predictions) everyone was giving hype to the Jazz and the Thunder, saying that they are the ones who will give Lakers the most threat to their 3 peat in the West. Only one person said the Blazers are THE threat, that was J.A. Adande. Adande gives us a lot of love along with Marc Spears.

If you take the defending champs to six game your a contender PLEASE and the Jazz they only beat the Lakers 3 times in the last 3 years they played in the playoffs unless the hit a growth spurt they got no chance against LA The teams i see that a threat to LA is The Spurs and if everything goes right The Blazers.

Adande is smart. but he is also west coast so that can explain the credit.
I mean if you watched any of that series with OKC and LA you probably wouldnt of said that. OKC ran a muck, went wild on LA, and they just .... watched.
LA is a threat because of Phil, everyone already knows this, San Antonio, Tim Duncan is crazy, I honestly dont know how he is so good, george hill a player comin up fast, and GiNOSEbli, 2 hardest working SG in the league. SA always a threat.
OKC, this years MVP, young crew, westbrookin it all the way to the playoffs, haha.

I wouldnt say Dre and Camby provide the "perfect" amount and types of eperience for this team, Camby is decent on Offense and a True Defensive player, and Dre well, he is mediocre at both. He's just a plain PG, nothing to special or flashy about his game. Neither of them have ever won a championship, and neither one have been an all star, so i wouldnt call it perfect, and i wouldnt give dre as much credit as he's getting. It may look nice and all, but now you know what its like to have a decent PG, imagine if you had an even better one.....

I like Adande. He knows his stuff and usually is the first to give us credit when it is due.

I agree with the main thrust of the article and yes it is nice to have some vets around to want to dig deep in crunch time and play the type of Defense teams need to play to get a win. Young players seem to, mostly, just want to prove themselves and tighten up their game. Older players seem to know how to do the things that bring the team more wins, this can only come through experience. Look at Fisher for the lakers, not the best point but he does the things that are are the hidden reasons for wins in close games. Miller seems to have the same ability to be smart when smarts are more important than physical ability. Camby has more ability and probably the same amount of smarts, point is I'm very happy about the vets and what they bring to our team. Lets just hope their brittle bones last the 82 - no boiled goose!!!

Shabazz or Saric. We need bench scoring.

But I rather move up and get Oladipo.
