    NY Post-
According to someone on that party line, Portland proposed to have Nets point guard Devin Harris rerouted from Charlotte for Andre Miller. It appeared to be gaining some serious headway when Denver abruptly halted the perpetual permutation shuffling.

From the sounds of it, this was a go until Denver backed out of the Melo deal. Harris and Miller are equal talents in my book, but Portland could be looking for a longer term fit along side Roy since Dre is 34. I wonder if there were any other pieces involved?

I don't know, I think Denver better trade him soon, or they will get nothing for him the longer they wait or when he leaves.

The one big thing I haven't seen any improvement or change at all with is Nate. I know it takes time but it doesn't even seem like they are trying to change anything at all! They are still taking way too many jumpers and either the players aren't listening, or he isn't doing his job. Our offense is terrible unless we are on fire from the three point line. I do like the added defensive mindset if they would actually do it, but we need help offensively. I think we can bring in whatever pg we want but we will still be the same team. I know it is still preseason but we are losing the same way in preseason as we did in the regular season the last 2 years to the same teams we have problems with.

Harris has way more potential than miller has skill to offer, and with harris being THE fastest human with a basketball, thats a for sure good asset to have.

And LTG this "Squad" is ready to go NOwhere.
dont know why Johnson would ever let harris go for miller, but whatevers clever.

Yeah, I agree that the "squad" is ready to go NOwhere. Whether we like it or not, the team needs help somewhere.

Johnson might want Miller because the Nets need a veteran, and badly.

I'm going to have the agree with you for the first time justin. Our team does not look good at all. I like most of our players but it just doesn't look like championship or even second round team. Spots I'm looking at are the back-up sg or sf. Why? Well Rudy obviously can't get it done he showed it in last years playoffs, this pre-season magic isn't flying with me. You slide Matthews to the two if Rudy goes then the SF spot is weak. Improvement at point guard for both bench and starting might also be needed.

Miller & Rudy for D Harris. Do it immesiately before someone changes there mind. Even though he shoots a mentally challenged 18% from three, the boy has got wheels.

We agree that the offence is still the same as it has been..Barkley is right about the Blazers, a jump shooting team & when not on OMG..Doesnt McMillan know anyother offence.. I think some of the players are afraid to shoot and miss and windup on the bench.. Like Rudy said, This offence isnt for him and I guess it wasnt for Miller either last year..As for Roy he needs to learn that to win this team needs to run a bit and not this slowdown offence he likes to play..The teams that push the ball against us usually win But we never do the same..Hope the assistant coaches show McMillan a new way to play..

Agreed.  I don't know if Harris is the best point gaurd we could get right now, but he is still definantly an improvement over miller since he does a lot of the same things as miller but is faster and younger.  Harris' biggest problem is that he takes too many threes even though he isnt that good from long range.  But if he can either improve his three point shooting ability or learn not to take as many threes I could see him being a very good aquisition for the blazers.  Also if we arre willing to give up one or two more of our young players and rudy we could possibly get a good backup big man, which we now need badly since pryzbilla, oden, and pendergraph are out with knee injuries for the start of the season.

I am a fan of the Blazers draft selections. Feels good to finally be able to say that

Or if the Blazers could pull of a three for one deal for harris, such as harris for Miller, mills and rudy it would free up room for the Blazers to sign someone like Eric Dampier to play as a backup to Camby and Aldridge while oden and Pryzbilla recover.

    Oh my bad.
    We are definitely guard heavy.
It just seems like the Nuggets would want to trade Melo after seeing what happened with Lebron. They should get what they can for him while they can, so hopefully a deal will happen soon, unless Melo signs the 3 year deal all of a sudden.

Thanks Bertram. It's just ok that anyone can't agree on anything. Human nature. Hehe...

By the way, I just came up with a crazy idea upon looking at the Nets roster. Why not trade Rudy, Miller and some draft rights for Harris and Outlaw? That way, Wesley Matthews gets to play a lot of minutes in his natural position, and we get a good backup at SF.

Sadly, I can't see any Net bigman at the 4 that can be included as a trading piece, except if they are willing to give away Derrick Favors.

Good point, but you just can't blame the Nets' debacle on Devin Harris. The team lacked veterans, a good coach, high morale, and probably they're trying to reach high for the draft just like what Miami did during the 07-08 season. Sadly, that kind of strategy just doesn't work out.

This deal is 100% contingent on NJ getting Melo, and us sneaking in afterward and swapping point guards with Charlotte. We all know Larry Brown loves veteran point guards and Dre is as vet as they come. In regards to Harris, I'm hit or miss when it comes to him. In 09, when everyone was trying to give up half the team for him, I said 'no thanks'. He's just not that good or worth that many assets. If he was, the Nets would have won more than 12 games. But, I think Andre and a piece is more than a reasonable asking price for Harris, who is a borderline All-Star, youthful, and obtains Finals experience. In this case, the ball is out of our hands and in the Nuggets court. With Harrington out 2 weeks, Kenyon out a couple months, and Birdman still on the shelf, I doubt a rocky start could influence Melo positively.

Denver needs to wake up, if he hasn't signed it yet he's not going to ever! Then they will get nothing like the Cavs did.

And I was thinking the same thing, I thought Devin would have been a great upgrade to Blake, but after the Nets only won 12 games last year, I'm not sure he is an upgrade over Dre. The only thing is he's younger.

Careful.  Try not to compare what Harris had around him with what he would here in Portland.  Stats and win/loss don't always tell the whole story.  He is, after all, a distributor.  The PG position is like no other in that your effectiveness is based largely on the pieces you have around you.  Not solely mind you...largely.  IMO, he would be a nice fit here.

Harris lacks the veteran leadership, post game, and perhaps even some of the court vision that Dre brings.  However, I believe he is a better compliment to Roy in the backcourt and obviously has the ability to stretch defenses with his perimeter game.  The 3 ball isn't a concern for me.  That shot looks better when your team is consistently trailing by double digits. :)

Yeah I'll be careful. The Nets almost had the worst record in history last year and I think they ended up with the 2nd worst... in NBA history, so I would definitely be careful to acquire him.
And it's a two way street. The pg is somewhat only as good as the people around him, but he is also supposed to make the people around him better. He did have a few decent players around him, but I think there are a lot of factors, like the coach utilizing him in the best way, injuries, the other players around him, etc.
I like him because he is younger and before last year I would have really liked to have him. After last year I'd be really careful in analyzing everything, which is what Cho is supposedly known for so I hope it works out well if it does go through.

I also don't like Melo, but I believe the man is also waiting for the right time (and for the right  price, that is) to be traded. I think he still has faith for his team, but I also think that he wants to be traded on a WINNING team if the Nuggets fails to live with his expectations during the course of the season. It might still be early to call it quits. After all, they unexpectedly reached WCF two seasons ago after five seasons of being kicked out in the first round of the playoffs.

As for the Harris deal, why won't the team make a direct deal with the Nets or make a three-way deal with the Bobcats if such transaction could be feasible?

On a side note though: if Harris gets to land here with the Blazers, the style of offense should change to a more uptempo one. His quickness can't be put to waste.
If in that situation Rudy still stays with the team, I think he'll be happy. His style of play suits to an uptempo system.

I'd like to see the type of offense that Harris would bring mixed with how Brandon runs things.
Brandon doesnt like to take the "shot" all the time, and Devin's show might be a little faster , causing BRoy to act first then think. Because i have no doubt that Brandon could make a shot in that situation, but at the same time no one wants a player who throws up those random baskets, like Kobe.
Or harris working with the bigs, I'd love to see Roy work with Batum as a tandem and have Harris hitch up with one of the bigs...

They won 12 games and also Harris was out for like half the season and they played way better when he came back. And the reason They still sucked even after he got back was because the only two good players on the team where Harris and Brook Lopez.
