    ESPN-
#11: Seems cruel to point out that Oden has played in only 82 games in his first three seasons. But that's where the conversation has to start (again) because Portland will be a different team if he can ever stay healthy.

Being ranked 11th behind Utah, Milwaukee, and San Antonio is kind of a slap in the face. We are flat out a better team than the Spurs and Bucks and after the Jazz's summer, give me our roster over theirs any day of the week.

im going to have to say we should be ahead of the bucks, san antonio, and the jazz... but with that said lets let the season get started so our play can do the talking. It does erk me how the northwest, no matter what sport, doesnt get any repect. it hurts us if we ever want to go after a super star...

I like that the bucks are getting credit, and I'd like to see the Nets jump higher and I don't believe the cavs are going to be that much worse, but I like where the blazers are at, we have some things to prove with consistency at the two most important positions (1 and 5). Power rankings are usually a what have you done for me lately kinda thing, and Roy looked hurt and non-explosive (inexplosive?) during the playoffs, as well as the rest of the team looking fraile and a bit tired during energetic spurts led by Jason Richardson. We got to the playoffs on fumes and while as a team we have chemistry, we had no continuity on the floor because of all the injuries leading to lineup changes (as well as schemes) throughout the season. But on the upside it's fueled Aldridge to learn what to do when a team smothers him, it made Rudy grow up (i'm optimistic for the entertainer) after having a series of meltdowns, it made Roy reevaluate his own game, and it made management realize we are going to need all of our centers to be a contender. No news (or minimal news, the Mathews pickup is going to do wonders for this team, as well as these new rookies fighting for minutes with our sophs and 3rd year players who will feel the rooks breathing down their necks).
Everyones pointing to Oden and putting the pressure on him to change things for us this season, but I think the pressure really is going to transition to Batum's shoulders once this season gets going, I hope he can respond.

Don't really understand why adding Carlos Boozer suddenly makes the Bulls the fifth best team in the NBA.  Also don't get why the Spurs and Bucks are ranked higher.  If the Bucks were in the western conference, they'd be about as good as the Hornets.  Other than these things, though, seems about right to me!  I'm glad to see the folks at ESPN think the Lakers are better than the Heat.

    Bucks yes.
    Spurs.....theres no way.

The Bucks are coming up and making moves, a like how Redd and Bogut dominate, but i agree they are not a contendint team, last year in the playoffs was like winning the lottery for them, but dont look for it this year.

    But really...
The Spurs are one of the most threatening teams in the western conference, always a number one contender that could possibly fight to the finals, and always looking to dethrone the lakers, or throw them off their course with destiny.
The Spurs have tony parker, who is litereally like the 2nd fastest point guard in the league.
They have tim duncan, who has only missed the top 5 finalists for MvP, once in his career!
They have GiNOSEbli, who is arguably the 2nd best SG are attacking the basket, right behind Kobe Bryant. Ginobli is so into his game, and gives so much effort, they have to bench him so he doesnt hurt himself.
Not To mention, that one cat, George Hill, who was runnin a muck last post season.

Like Phoenix did beat Portland and San Antonio last playoffs, but at least San Antonio fought for it, i felt as if portland half a$$ed it mid way through.

I agree with the rankings i think if we handle the situations that we had in the summer time better(rudy, GM situation, etc.) we would be ranked high, but this is just the begin and we will move up in no time.

I dunno... I think it's fair to rank the Blazers around the same spot as the Bucks... both teams are young, athletic, have a dynamic athlete/scorer in the backcourt, and have questions at center going into camp.  I guess the Bucks get vaulted above because they're in the East, which makes sense to me.  In a talk about power rankings, equal teams would look better out East.

I think Suns fans have a bigger beef at #12 after winning 54 games and going to the Conference Finals in the tougher West...

I agree with the Suns bit, for a guy who "only looked good in Nash's offense", his old team sure is getting a bad rap without him.

Facing Turkeyglue instead of Stoudamire on the Suns, makes every team in the West happier.

Right now, the most realistic is Asik. If Houston pursue D12, sign and trade JJ and a couple second round picks, maybe Joel Freeland or somebody for Asik.
