Australia defeated France in a World Championship warm up game 67 vs 66 with Patty Mills leading all scores with 18 points 54%, 4/6 3pt range, 4 assists and 2 steals in 30 minutes of game time.  The French team featured 3 of their NBA players Batum, Ajinca and Diaw. Could be a big tournament for Patty as the article below indicates Australia coach Brett Brown has a pretty simple game plan for young Mills-

Australia's game plan for the world championships is basic and to the point - throw the ball inside to the big men and let Patrick Mills loose in open court.

It is a reasonable tactic for coach Brett Brown given the array and quality of the tall men at his disposal, even without injured NBA centre Andrew Bogut.

"We're going to be a post-up team with guys like Matt Nielsen, Dave Andersen and Al Maric," Brown said.

"Then we'll turn Patty Mills loose in the open court and everyone else can spot up and take advantage of what opportunities they get.

"So we'll run with Patty and go to the post, the post, the post. With the experience I've had coaching (as an assistant with the NBA's San Antonio Spurs) and what we do with Tim Duncan, I'm comfortable in that environment."

Andersen (212cm), Maric (210cm) and Nielsen (209cm) are set to be the main inside targets, but will be joined by former Washington State University centre Aron Baynes (207cm) in his world championship debut in Turkey later this month. Australia have loaded up with guards to support Mills, naming Gold Coast Blaze playmaker Adam Gibson, Perth Wildcats back-courter Damian Martin and Serbian-based Steve Markovic in the 12-man team trimmed from the 16 players at this week's Melbourne training camp.European-based trio Joe Ingles, Brad Newley and David Barlow and Melbourne Tigers co-captain Mark Worthington round out the team.

Do you have a link to that article? Info on these warmup games can be a bit hard to find, so anywhere that has constant coverage would be a plus.

Casey, most of my info on the Aussie national team is sourced from which has all the current Aussie info on the warm up games leading into the Worlds.  FYI Australia defeated African Championship runners up Ivory Coast 80 - 59.  The link didn't mention Patty's stats for this game however coach Brown indicated that he was going to spread the playing time and Patty may have been rested. I'm glad that he is excelling at the European style game. I need to see him succeed in the American Style against that upper level talent. He had a decent summer league, I wouldn't say that he seperated himself from Armon much though while there. Last year he had a few opportunities to show what he could do and he came out mediocre at best. I would love to see him back on the bench this year with an opportunity to compete against Bayless without Rudy in the mix, but I think that Johnson will be taking most of those minutes. Unfortunately, Portland just has too many guards.

Patty just strikes me as one of those players who is always going to be a much stronger player in the free-flowing international system. That's not to say he can't excel in the NBA, but I do believe he will always be better playing international ball.

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...

Yeah and now Blazers have zero interest in Bynum. I really thought he was worth the small risk. If anything he would be at the end of our bench and we use him as a sub. Hopefully we do make some type of trade for a quality back up center. Right no...
