Will CP3 Become A Trail Blazer?
    YES (20)
     71%
    NO (8)
     29%
Come opening night, we'll hear Mark Mason yell, ".....And starting at point guard, from Wake Forest, Number three, Chriiiiiiiiiiiis Paul!"

I have no "sources" or any inside information whatsoever, but I've got a feeling we will see Paul in red and black this fall for a number of reasons.

    1) Paul Allen is in 'win-now' mode. He locked up a 36 year old Camby for two more years and went into the luxury tax to sign Matthews. He can sense the West is weakening and opportunities to grab Hall of Fame players in their prime are few and far between. He'll give Cho the green light to make it happen.

    2) Of all the preferred teams Paul wants to go to, we have easily the best offer without destroying our entire roster. Not to mention, Monty Williams the head coach of the Hornets and as he has seen his former team grow over  the past few years, he knows who's legit and who's not.

    3) We actually have a superstar mentioning they WANT to come to Portland?!? Yes Portland! The same city that wasn't good enough for Hedo Turkoglu. Now, when players get dealt here, they end up falling in love here, but I can't think of the last player who has actively stated they want to hoop here. That in itself makes this an even rarer occasion.

What do your instincts tell you? Are we getting CP3 or what?

Okay, okay...I'm thinking 51/49 Portland lands Paul, IF the meeting of the minds in NO Monday is unsuccessful in finding a resolution.  My reasoning is simple.  Like Hawes stated, Mr. Allen is in a "Now" mode.  More importantly, he is a businessman and understands what it would mean for BUSINESS to have a Chris Paul here.  Our owner has lost millions over the years with this team.  Isn't it time for that to turn around?

CP3 would be a cash cow for the Trail Blazers. Sponsorship sales would go through the roof, more nationally televised games, more suites would be sold, etc and etc. He and Roy would the the good guys against the hated super team in Miami.

I'm with BDawg on this one. I'm not as confident as D that we'll land him but I think we've got a little over 50% chance to acquire him. The thing to take into consideration is that Cho has NO emotional attachment to the players because he didn't draft, sign, or trade for any of them so he'll make the deal as long as he feels it makes us better now and in the long run. Also, Larry Miller is pretty close with Paul and his family so you know he's salivating at the thought of getting him. There's no doubt we'll throw an offer out there, just depends if N.O. bites on the bait or not.

If we have a chance to get CP3,  why not go 4 him? I say give NO a couple of offers without batum. But if we really want him then offer him as a last resort. Example without Batum: A. Miller, J. Przbilla, R. Fernandez, Player from over seas/ Future First round pick. With Batum: A. Miller, J. Przbilla, N. Batum, J. Bayless/ Player from over seas.

I have no idea what to think on this one!! I can't deny that it would be fantastic to see Paul suit up for the Blazers but do we know that CP3 is willing to go from being undisputed leader to taking a back seat/passenger seat to B Roy? But I have to say, if he does come to Rip City, our big three: Roy, LMA & CP3 vs. the evil Miami big three would be a thrilling battle!! :) I'm too excited to see what happens!!

Don't be too quick to underestimate your Blazer squad with Paul a part of it.  There may be "a big 4" here, with a healthy Oden.  With Paul at point, the sky is the limit for the Blazers.  With continued health, I could easily see 4 all-stars and a couple of first team all-defense players...in our starting 5.  Safe to assume that this ceiling is responsible for the hype over Paul right now.  With the average age of each of the starters being what it would be, we might even hear the word "dynasty" thrown out there.  I share in your excitement.  I will be the first to ATTEMPT to put Rich Cho up on my shoulders (security and Cho permitting ofcourse!) during our first (of many) parades thru the streets of downtown Portland should we land Paul.  Hey Chris, if you're listening, what does the word "dynasty" mean to YOU?

Lets not forget people, not to kill the mood, but it isn't even for sure he will get traded. Right now i give us a 15% chance of landing him. I voted no on the poll. If he does get traded, then i give us a 50% chance, but as of now, he could very easily be staying put. Who knows?

Could be wrong, but I also agree that Mr. Allen is ready to win now. Paul in P-town just makes sense.

if paul has already changed his top destination in the first 3 or 4 days, it makes me feel that portland now has a really good shot at getting him. If N.O. wants to replace paul with a big name, then they'll go with orlando, but if they're looking at re-building, portland is the winner. Let's get #3 on our roster!

I think the fact we aren't his top choice helps us out, are they going to send a defecter accused of "strong-arming" his way out of town to the place he wants to go most? Or the one they can get the best pieces from. I don't see Paul leaving town before the start of this season though, Paul is their only chance at selling those season tickets.

I have the gut feeling that one of two things happen, either Chris Paul agrees to give New  Orleans one more shot, OR he ends up getting traded to Portland. I think if Paul says he wants to leave, New Orleans will want to make another offer to players that want to play and may still be available in Free Agency. In trading Emeka Okafur, another former #1 pick, they are freeing up a ton of cap space and could land another trade or free agent that will help them this coming year. If CP3 opts to leave, New Orleans will not want to hold out and Portland can put the best package together for Monty.

Hey, I am going to go out on a limb and say, "Yes, my gut tells me Paul will be here in Portland." It's just my instincts, without rhyme or reason.

Having said that, I also think there are a lot of reasons why it is entirely reasonable for Paul to come here, provided he is actually traded.
