Welcome to 40th Anniversary Central! It's been over forty years since this franchise has been founded and with it have come and gone a lot of good memories. Let us celebrate the franchise's forty years with your favorite memories.

Being a relatively young Trail Blazers fan, one of my favorite moments happened within the last few seasons. When discussing this subject with others, many have cited the 2007 Draft Lottery where Portland received the number one pick as a franchise changing moment that sticks out. In my mind, while that draft lottery was extremely significant and highly memorable, it was still based on statistical luck. The moment I knew that this team was picking up steam and headed for a great winning path was when the team won thirteen games in a row less than six months after the lottery. This is one of my favorite moments as that thirteen game win-streak was not defined by luck, but rather by talent and hard work.

Most memorable moment?
That's like asking me which parent do I love most. It's nearly impossible.
Although the early-90's teams were my favorite so far, I was still between 5-8 during their prime, so I wasn't totally aware of how big it would be to win a title. With that said, it would have to be winning Game 6 of the 2000 Western Conference Finals, knowing we had all the momentum and were 4 quarters away from winning an NBA Championship (there was no one Indy would have slowed us down in the Finals!) was the high point of following the Blazers.

In a very close second place would have to be winning the draft lottery in 2007, because a franchise big man is something this franchise had not seen since Bill Walton, which ultimately lead to the only title in team history. I think when I look back, that was definitely one memory I will never forget and will be able to recall exactly who I was with, where I was at, and my reactions during the process.

It meant a lot to these fans as well.

My favorite Blazer memory would have to be Game 4 of the 1990 NBA Finals. My dad had season tickets that season and I was fortunate to see about 30 games that year, including Game 4. I can distinctly remember the crowd that night... I have been to a lot of games at the Rose Garden but not once has it ever been as loud as the Memorial Coliseum was that night. I was only 9 but I remember it vividly... It came down to the last play of the game...Blazers were trailing the Pistons by 112-109 with a little less than two seconds to play and had to get the ball up the court for a decent look. It was Danny Young who would get the ball and from about 30 feet on the ride sideline he hurled up a prayer and nailed it. The Coliseum went BERSERK. Blazers rushed the court, Isaiah, Rodman, Chuck D. and the rest of the Pistons waved their hands frantically saying it was no good. The refs huddled, seconds felt like hours and finally came to the heartbreaking decision that the shot was NO GOOD. This being before instant replay, the call was based on the refs judgement and they decided against the Blazers. I was BROKEN. Even at the age of nine, it felt like someone kicked you in the stomach. Replay would later show that indeed the shot was no good and the Blazers went on to lose the series in 5. Even though we lost the game, and eventually the series, I'll never forget the electricity at the Coliseum that night... the walls actually shook. Here's to 40 Years Trail Blazer fans, and to the hope that this team has what it takes to get back to the Finals... and WIN It.

There are so may to choose from. It started, for me, when I finally got to go to a Blazer game at the Coliseum at age 10. I watched from my top-of-the-aisle bench seat as Billy Ray Bates scored 35 points in a Blazers blowout win over Dallas. The Coliseum was soooo cool. You could walk down to the court before the games, and players would actually come over, sign autographs, and talk to you. I was in heaven.

A few years later, it was nirvana. As I went through my teens, I watched the Blazers of the mid 1980's grow up as well. When the trade for Buck Williams was made, I knew it would be great - and it was. I went to games whenever possible, but when the playoffs rolled around, I WAS THERE. I waited in lines at GI Joe's overnight on a regular basis during the '90, '91, and '92 playoffs, and even made good friends with people who were also raging Blazermaniacs. There were times where my voice was completely GONE the day after a playoff game at the MC.

I remember the series opening blowout win of Utah in the 1992 Western Conference Finals. Terry Porter came out and hit back to back three pointers to open the game....and THE ROUT WAS ON. TP hit one to open the second half as well....we screamed and laughed until our heads hurt.

Days later, after Game 3 of the NBA Finals against the Bulls, I sat dejected in my seat just staring at the court, wondering how this could happen. Michael Jordan was good, but I just knew Portland had the best team. The same could be said of the '90-'91 Blazers. They were the best team in the NBA, but somehow, weren't able to win the title. That group was without a doubt, the best nucleus in league history to not win a championship. I'd like to think what we're seeing from this current group is similar to what we saw when Portland drafted Clyde, Jerome, and Terry. Now, we're just waiting for our Buck to come along.

  Well, bottom line is we need to win all the games we are "suppose" to win and we should make the playoffs. Hopefully some of those wins will carry some momentum into the playoffs. If we play good "D" and keep attacking we should do fine. We suffer when everyone just stands around watching B-Roy, Dre and LA do all the work. Webster and Rudy need to move more without the ball and Bayless needs to see the court better so when he does drive to the hoop he can make plays instead of getting blocked or making turn-overs. Oh....AND MAKE THEM FREE THROWS!!! Look how close the last game (vs Denver) would have been if we had not missed so many!!!

  You're right. I hate it when this team has more than 1 or 2 days off, because they either lose focus or aren't as sharp. We are much better on the 2nd half of back to backs then rested which is crazy in itself.
  The thing about getting it below double digits was that we were playing perfectly for a stretch of time. Reality is though, you can't play perfect for sustained periods of time. If we would have came out a little stronger, we wouldn't have had to dig ourselves out of that 13 pt 1st quarter hole.

  1991 all the way. Porter, Kersey, Buck, and Duck just dropped off way too much from 91 to 93. Drexler was banged up as well. The 91 team had all the stars aligned..just too bad they had one helluva bad weekend in Los Angeles and nothing to show for their epic 63 win season.
