The Trail Blazers and Wells Fargo have teamed up to support Start Making A Reader Today (SMART) by donating $20,000 to the nonprofit. A check was presented to SMART at halftime of tonight’s regular season finale at the Rose Garden. This marks the sixth consecutive season the partners have teamed up to support SMART, which has resulted in a total donation of $120,000.

In an incredible display of community support, Trail Blazers fans attending Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers, the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation and Wells Fargo combined to raise just over $30,500 to assist in Hurricane Sandy relief.
Last week, Hurricane Sandy devastated the east coast in one of the largest and fiercest storms to hit our nation. Funds are urgently needed to provide safe water, temporary shelter systems essential medical supplies and additional services to aid in relief efforts.

Trail Blazers guard Wesley Matthews has been selected as the recipient of the 2011-12 Maurice Lucas Award, the team announced today. Trail Blazers President Larry Miller joined Pam Lucas, wife of Maurice Lucas, to present the award to Matthews at halftime of the Trail Blazers home finale against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday.
The award is given annually to the Trail Blazers player who best represents the true spirit of Maurice Lucas through his contributions on the court and in the community, as well as in support of his teammates and the organization. In honor of the award, the Trail Blazers will make a $5,000 donation to the charity of Matthews' choice.
