The Portland Trail Blazers survived their first elimination game Tuesday night, beating the Houston Rockets 88-77 to win for their second game of the series. But that was at the Rose Garden, where the Trail Blazers have been next to unbeatable this season. In order to keep their postseason alive, they’ll have to do something they haven’t done since 2007: Beat the Rockets at the Toyota Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Portland Trail Blazers guard Rudy Fernandez was named to the 2008-09 T-Mobile NBA All-Rookie Second Team, it was announced today by a vote of NBA head coaches.
“This is a well-deserved honor for Rudy and an acknowledgment of the role he's played in our success,” said Trail Blazers General Manager Kevin Pritchard. “We're very proud of the way our rookies have stepped up and contributed this season.”

The Portland Trail Blazers (2-3) needed a win to stay alive in the postseason, and they got one in gutsy fashion, beating the Houston Rockets (3-2) 88-77 in front of 20,462 Rose Garden fans on Tuesday night.
Portland’s final margin of victory was their largest against Houston since April 8th, 2003.

The Portland Trail Blazers (1-3) will leave Houston thinking about what could have been. Momentum changing turnovers late in the game and an inability to box out on the defensive boards nullified a fourth quarter Portland lead, with the end result being a 89-88 loss to the Rockets (3-1) at the Toyota Center Sunday night. The loss puts the Trail Blazers in a 3-1 hole in the best-of-seven series that now shifts back to Portland.

The Portland Trail Blazers (1-2) battled back from 17 down, but in the end could not overcome the Houston Rockets (2-1), falling 86-83 at the Toyota Center on Friday night.
Houston jumped out to an early lead Friday, taking a 17-8 lead on two made free throws from Yao Ming with 1:21 remaining in the opening quarter. Rudy Fernandez hit his first three-pointer of the night with 10 seconds left in the first quarter closing the gap to 21-15 in favor of the home team.

The Portland Trail Blazers (1-1) followed the lead of Brandon Roy on Tuesday night, and evened their first round series at one game apiece with a 107-103 victory over the Houston Rockets (1-1) in front of 20,408 screaming fans at the Rose Garden.
Roy finished Game Two with 42 points, tied with Clyde Drexler for the second-most by a Trail Blazer in a playoff game.

Portland Trail Blazers Head Coach Nate McMillan was named the NBA’s Western Conference Coach of the Month for the month of April, it was announced Friday by the NBA.
McMillan led the Trail Blazers to an 8-1 month, including wins at San Antonio, vs. the L.A. Lakers and vs. Denver. Portland won its last six games to secure home court advantage heading into its first-round playoff matchup with the Houston Rockets.

The Portland Trail Blazers (53-28) pulled within one victory of clinching home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs, beating the Oklahoma City Thunder (22-59) 113-83 in front of 20,655 at the Rose Garden Monday night.
Portland has won five straight home games against the Thunder, included 30-point victories in both the teams last two meetings. The Trail Blazers 53 wins are tied for the sixth most in franchise history.

The Portland Trail Blazers (54-28) needed one victory to clinch home court advantage in the first round of the Western Conference Playoffs, and got it in a big way rolling over the Denver Nuggets (54-28) 104-76 in front of 20,652 enthusiastic fans at the Rose Garden Wednesday night.
The Trail Blazers will be in the playoffs for the first time since 2003 as the Western Conference’s fourth seed, hosting the Houston Rockets. With the victory Portland also became co-champions of the Northwest Division, finishing in a tie with the Nuggets.

It’s been a tiring and emotionally draining week for the Portland Trail Blazers.
The combination of clinching a playoff spot for the first time since 2003, playing four games in five nights and coming back from double digit deficits against the Grizzlies, Spurs and Lakers has taken a toll on the bodies and minds of the Red and Black. Nevertheless, Portland found a way to hold off a resilient Clippers team 97-72 at the Staples Center Saturday night for their 52nd win of the season and their 20th win on the road. The 52 wins are the most by a Portland team since the 1999-2000 season.
