The Blazers, in their fourth NBA season, improved by six games in the win column over the previous campaign but were still near the bottom of the league with a 27-55 record. Portland's one-two scoring punch of Geoff Petrie and Sidney Wicks added some luster to the season along with third-year guard-forward Larry Steele, who became the club's first NBA statistical leader.
