Trail Blazers vs. Spurs Game Thread
Enjoy that win Trail Blazers fans! After dismantling the Wizards at home Tuesday night, Portland now enters the gauntlet, better known as the 11-game stretch run to finish out the 2011 season. of those 11 games, 10 are opponents above .500 and the lone sub.500 team is against the Warriors, in the Bay. Not an easy task at all. But this does provide Portland an opportunity to fine tune themselves for the playoffs. Also, the Trail Blazers have won 5 straight at home against the Spurs and Tim Duncan will be out for the matchup. And, oh yeah, some guy named LaMarcus Aldridge poured in 40 the last time these two teams tangoed.
For Portland to continue their dominance at home over the Spurs, they must force turnovers and get out on the break. Tim Duncan or not, this team plays solid, fundamental team defense. San Antonio will most likely key in on LA since he had the big night last meeting, so that means our shooters need to be ready and our slashers must make the timely cuts to make S.A. pay for focusing on LaMarcus. Also, with TD out, Portland must take control of the paint. DeJaun is a bruiser but he's undersized. Matt Bonner has the size but plays around the perimeter. This is a very important game heading into the biggest road trip of the year.
