The Portland Trail Blazers (0-0) being their 2010-11 campaign in earnest Tuesday night by hosting the Los Angeles Clippers (0-0) in their first game of the exhibition season. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 PM.

With just a week of practices under their collective belts, the Trail Blazers will still be working the kinks out, albeit in front of a home crowd that will be interested in seeing how their team does against an up-and-coming Clipper squad.

"We want to get work in," said head coach Nate McMillan. "(Tuesday) night the things we've focused on defensively, setting the tone on the defensive end of the floor, and then offensive execution. Everything we've worked on. We'll probably play a lot of guys tomorrow, go hard, push yourself, get in and get out. Whatever we do we'll look at that game and try and build on the next game from that game."

Portland will be begin the preseason the same way they ended last season: short on centers. Marcus Camby, who signed a two-year extension with the Trail Blazers during Portland's first-round playoff against the Phoenix Suns, will sit out Tuesday's contest with a sore groining.

The injury isn't considered serious and even if he weren't injured, it stands to reason that the 36 year-old enter his 15th season in the NBA probably doesn't need much work in the preseason. And with both Joel Przybilla and Greg Oden rehabbing from knee injuries, Jeff Pendergraph, in his second year out of Arizona State, will get the start alongside Andre Miller, Brandon Roy, Nicolas Batum and LaMarcus Aldridge.

The Clippers are dealing with injuries of their own as they embark on a the 2010-11 season under new head coach Vinny Del Negro. That might be cause for concern if this were the regular season, but not the case in the exhibition season.

I think the Clippers have a number of guys that are out that are not ready," said McMillan. "Preseason is like, you don't really know who is going to show up and play or who that coach is going to play. So for us, it's all about us tomorrow night and the things that we've talked about in training camp."

Brian Wheeler and Antonio Harvey will have the call in the Portland area on 95.5 The Game. There is no television broadcast of Tuesday night's game.
