Preview: Trail Blazers vs. Kings, 7 PM
02/02/12
Written by:
caseyholdahl
After a convincing 112-68 victory against the Charlotte Bobcats at the Rose Garden Wednesday night, the Portland Trail Blazers (13-9) take a trip trip south to take on the Sacramento Kings (6-15) Thursday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 PM on ComcastSportsNet 37 and 750 AM The Game.
The Trail Blazers, who are 6-4 in their last ten games, enter Thursday night's game having taken 11 of the last 12 games against the Kings. The last meeting between the two teams, a 101-89 Trail Blazers victory at the Rose Garden, saw six Trail Blazers score in double figures, led by Jamal Crawford with 26 points off the bench. Gerald Wallace with 20 points, eight rebounds and LaMarcus Aldridge logged one of his most dominate rebounding night's of the season, pulling down 16 boards to go along with 13 points.
Portland will once again be without the services of Nicolas Batum, who is still listed as day-to-day with a left knee bone bruise. He did not travel with the team to Sacramento.
Thursday's game can be seen locally on CSN with Mike Barrett and Mike Rice. Brian Wheeler and Antonio Harvey will have the radio call on 750 AM The Game and on all of the stations of the Trail Blazers Radio Network.

LAST PORTLAND WIN:
101-89, 1/23/12 (Por.)
LAST SACRAMENTO WIN:
96-81, 1/24/11 (Por.)
CURRENT WIN STREAK:
Trail Blazers (Three)
• Portland has won 11 of the last 12 meetings with the Kings, including the last five in Sacramento.
• Portland’s 107-102 win against Sacramento on March 2 marked the first time the Kings had reached the century mark against Portland since a 103-86 victory to close the 2007-08 season series.
• After last season’s 94-90 overtime win in Sacramento on Jan. 19, the Trail Blazers are 14-3 all-time against the Kings in games that require overtime.
• Nicolas Batum averaged 19.0 points (57.1% FG) in three games against Sacramento last season, his second-best scoring av- erage against any team in 2010-11. He averaged 15.3 points in three games against Sacramento in 2009-10, which was also his second-best average against any opponent that season (minimum two games). Batum has averaged 13.4 points in nine career games against the Kings, more than four points better than his career scoring average (9.1).
• Eight Kings players averaged at least 9.0 points in their appearances vs. the Trail Blazers last season. In two games, Tyreke Evans posted averages of 21.0 points (55.2% FG), 7.0 assists and 2.50 steals.
• The Trail Blazers notched a 30-19 advantage in steals against the Kings last season. Portland scored 61 points off of 53 turnovers by Sacramento in three games last season, while the Kings converted 44 Trail Blazer errors into 51 points.
• Despite Portland winning two of three matchups last season, the Kings shot better from the field (48.5%-42.9%) and averaged more points than the Trail Blazers (96.0-94.0)
• Gerald Wallace played the first three seasons of his NBA career with Sacramento, where he averaged 3.4 points, 2.1 rebounds and 9.7 minutes in 138 games before being selected by the Bobcats in the 2004 expansion draft.
• Two Kings staff members have ties to Portland: Assistant Coach Jim Eyen (assistant coach, 1997-2001), and Sacramento President of Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie played for Portland from 1970-76.
