The following is a transcript of Greg Oden's comments to the media following the first day of the Portland Trail Blazers' 2010 training camp.

What did you do today and what was that like for you?

I just did a little bit of workout. Me and Joel with (assistant coach Bill) Bayno and Buck (Williams), kind of like the same stuff we were doing out there. Not a lot of contact, but get some shots up and get some work in.

What does it mean for you just to be out there with the guys?

It means a lot. Just to get out there on the court, be with them. I did one round of three-man weave, so that felt good. Just to be connected with them and do a bit of that, which I haven't done in a while, felt really good.

How has the knee responded and are you in pain right now?

It's alright. I'll go get my treatment like I do every day. It's alright.

You talk about good days and bad days. Where would this one stack up?

It was a fine day. I made it through with all I did. I've got to get my treatment, I've still got some stuff I've got left to do like get in the pool and still do some stuff with that/

Spirit-wise, your spirits holding up pretty well? Yesterday you were smiling and today you've got a little smile going on.

Yeah, you've got to. You know, you don't want to bring no bad energy around here. You've got to keep on smiling. It's the beginning of the season and I'm excited for it to start.

After last night's team meeting did you wish even more that you could be out here doing more?

I wish more before the meeting started. I wish I was 100 percent and able to go out there. It is what it is, but I'm still excited by everything I got to do.

Are you thinking about the knee when you're out there?

I'm going out there and doing stuff that I don't have to think about the knee. That's why they say progression. I do what I can without thinking about the knee, then my next progression is doing a little bit more without thinking about the knee.

Is it nice to lean on Joel a little bit knowing that he has an injury too?

I talk to him a lot. I don't wish that upon anybody. I wish Joel was out there, I wish I was out there. Just having Joel there, somebody I can talk to, and he's older so he gives me words of encouragement, try to keep our spirits up.
