With a nine-game improvement from the season prior, the 2007-08 Trail Blazers posted a 41-41 record, marking the first time Portland finished the regular season at .500 or better since 2003-04. The league's youngest team ran off 13 straight wins in December, the second-longest winning stretch in franchise history.
During the month, Nate McMillan was named Western Conference Coach of the Month and Brandon Roy became only the second Trail Blazer to earn Western Conference Player of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks. In a season of peaks and valleys, Portland started out 5-12 before running its record to a season-best nine games above .500 at 22-13 and finishing the year an even 41-41, good for third in the Northwest Division and 10th in the Western Conference.

Brandon Roy averaged a team-best 19.1 points and 5.8 assists, and became the first Trail Blazers player to be named to the All-Star Game since 2001. Along with Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge (17.8), Travis Outlaw (13.3), Martell Webster (10.7) and Steve Blake (8.5) all eclipsed career highs in scoring.

Brandon Roy was named a Western Conference All-Star and two-time Western Conference Player of the Week. He finished second among sophomores in scoring (19.1) and first in assists (5.8). Right behind Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge ranked third among second-year players at 17.8 points per game and led all sophomores with 7.6 rebounds. Nate McMillan was named Western Conference Coach of the Month for December, becoming the first Portland coach to earn the honor in the 21st century.
