Trail Blazers Bay Area woes continue

    The Portland Trail Blazers lost 101-93 to the Golden State Warriors Wednesday at Oracle Arena, due in large part to a Portland defensive effort that resulted in better than 50 percent shooting for the Warriors from the floor, including 11-of-20 from three-point range.

    Portland (11-8) started well, building a 10-point first-quarter lead before a 12-4 run late in the period brought the Warriors back to within two points. The run included a pair of threes from Brandon Rush and another from Stephen Curry to cut the Trail Blazers lead to 26-24.

    Curry tallied a game-high 32 points on 12-of-19 shooting on the night, including 6-of-8 from beyond the arc.

    The Trail Blazers built their lead back up to seven points in the second quarter based on strong play from their reserves, who outscored the Warriors bench 45-29 in the game, and led 53-48 at the break.

    From there it was the same old Oracle Arena for Portland, where the Trail Blazers have dropped 12 of their last 13 games, as Golden State (6-11) took over with a 31-point third quarter to lead by six going into the fourth, a lead they would never relinquish as they pulled away for the final margin.

    Portland was led by LaMarcus Aldridge with 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists, followed by Jamal Crawford and Nicolas Batum with 16 points each off the bench. Crawford's performance was one of feast or famine, however, as the guard accounted for six of Portland's twelve turnovers in the game.

    Marcus Camby pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds to total 38 in his last two games and Raymond Felton led Portland with seven assists while turning the ball over just once.

    The Warriors got 26 points from power forward David Lee to add post presence to their outside game, while Rush chipped in 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including a perfect 3-of-3 from three-point range.

    Monta Ellis was held to a quiet four points but notched a game-high 12 assists for Golden State in the victory.

    Next for Portland is a return to the Rose Garden to face the Phoenix Suns Friday, 7:00 p.m. The game can be seen locally on Comcast SportsNet (Comcast channel 37). 750 AM The Game and NBA Audio League Pass will have the call.
