Trail Blazers: Trail Blazers Snap Grizzlies Streak
"I thought Camby was just great defending the basket and rebounding the ball for us," McMillan said. "When we get guys going to the boards, it leads to transition and the tempo we want, but a lot of times when Camby is cleaning up the boards like this, we assume. So tomorrow night we cant assume Camby is going to be there to get all the boards, we’ve got to help him on the boards."

Trail Blazers: Trail Blazers 97, Grizzlies 84: Post-Game Notes
"With eight baskets on the night LaMarcus Aldridge has surpassed Kevin Duckworth for 10th on Portland’s all-time field goals made list (2,856)."

Trail Blazers: Camby Helps Shut Down Memphis
"Camby, inspired by LaMarcus Aldridge’s 23-rebound effort in Toronto last week, recorded 22 against the Grizzlies. Not only did he have the 22 boards, but also had five blocked shots, and helped Portland totally shut down Memphis’ front line. Camby, Aldridge, Craig Smith, Kurt Thomas, and Gerald Wallace were fantastic inside defensively."

Oregon Live: Portland 97, Memphis 84: Blazers on the verge of back-to-back-to-back wins
"The first words when I walked in the locker room from Gerald Wallace were, 'Let's not just be happy with two. Let's go get this game tomorrow night.'"

Oregon Live: Blazers Insider: Nate McMillan wants to see spark on the road
"He's always figuring out ways to light fires under us," veteran center Marcus Camby said. "Some days he's not that vocal, and if we don't respond to that, he comes in and, let's just say expletives. He has challenged our manhood. Our pride."

Portland Tribune: Glue, grit carry Blazers past Grizzlies
“Gerald knows how to play only one way – all-out,” Camby said. “He’s the grit we have on this team.”

Rip City Project: Game 18 Recap: Blazers 97, Grizzlies 84
"There aren’t a ton of teams that have one guy that can defend Aldridge one on one for a full 48 minutes (or the 31:22 which he played for the purpose of accuracy). Memphis tried a bunch of different looks throughout the night. Rudy Gay was the most successful, although his tactic was to play behind LA then foul if LaMarcus got a spin on him towards the hoop. The least successful was Marreese Speights. Aldridge primarily beat up on Speights with his outside shot, but also took him down low a couple of times. Gay’s defense worked because with his length he could challenge the outside shot both when LA faced-up or spun away from the hoop. Marc Gasol had a couple of sequences on LaMarcus too. At least once, LA took the ball outside, isolated Gasol, and just drove by him. You know it’s a good night for the Blazers when LA has a different tactic to deal with each defender he sees."

Blazersedge: Media Row Report: Blazers 97, Grizzlies 84
"LaMarcus can score on anybody," Hollins said. "It's not like he can't score against size. He's a great runner. He's a great post-up player. He's a great jump shooter and he can play in the pick and roll. He scores in a lot of ways. Putting a big or small is not going to change whether he's going to score."

Blazersedge: Game 19 Preview: Portland Trail Blazers vs. Golden State Warriors
"The Warriors have toned down their freewheeling offense from years past. They're middle-of-the-road in possessions per game, fast break points, fast break efficiency, three-pointers attempted. It's like contrition for trying to win with a Harlem Globetrotters style all those years. Unfortunately they haven't yet found a steady formula to replace their gimmick. They're not a paint-scoring team, they're poor rebounders, they don't force turnovers that much, they're not good defenders individually or as a group, opponents score everywhere on them, and they foul more than any team in the league. They have a lot of good jump shooters and David Lee looks really nifty some nights. That's about it."

Ball Don't Lie: 2004-era Mark Cuban didn’t think Steve Nash would still be walking at this point
"Nash, if you recall, needed until his third season as a Maverick to work out his various back, Achilles and ankle issues, and put together a fully healthy season in 2000-01. His game was so creaky at times that Cuban signed Utah Jazz reserve Howard Eisley in the summer of 2000, not to spell Nash, but to possibly beat him out in training camp for the starting gig. Again, not revisionist history, and a quick stroll through some of that fall's NBA preview mags will reveal some bylines as suggesting that a Mavs outfit with Eisley starting would lead Dallas to their first playoff berth in over a decade."

Ball Don't Lie: Mark Cuban isn’t too thrilled about the NBA in the Olympics
"It's hard to argue against the ideas that NBA owners carry a large amount of financial risk during the Olympics, particularly when the International Olympic Committee and the corporations that sponsor the games make so much money off the involvement of these international superstars. It's a tough prospect when stars like Manu Ginobili and Yao Ming have broken down under the weight of international competition. Plus, it's easy to see how the NBA could profit off organizing its own international tournament, one modeled on MLB's World Baseball Classic but altogether more serious. Any competition that puts Kevin Durant, LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant on the same team is going to be a cash cow. The only question for the NBA is whether or not they want to reap as much from that structure as they possibly can."

The Basketball Jones: Ep. 747: Orange You Glad
"On today’s live episode of “The Fix,” Skeets and Tas discuss: Kevin Love’s on-again, off-again contact extension, the Wizards firing coach Flip Saunders, Marcus Camby’s leadership, ‘Melo’s rough night from the floor, whether Dirk and Duncan will make the All-Star Game, and Tyrone Corbin’s “Coach of the Year” chances. All that, plus Calgary Flames memorabilia, NHL ’94 stories, orange shoes, free chalupas, and much, much more."

    The Basketball Jones:
"This is exactly why you keep an ex-NBA player on your coaching staff, just in case you have to sneak him in to practice. Sure, it’s also nice to have one around to help with player development since retired players are good at relating to current players, but the main thing is to always have an extra body around so the head coach doesn’t have to play. We all remember what happened to Nate McMillan a couple years ago when the Blazers needed another player for practice. Smart move by Rick Adelman."

DIME: The Top 5 Crossovers In The NBA
“Jamal Crawford, my homeboy from Seattle, has the best crossover in the league,” Jason Terry said recently. “Jamal’s crossover is so tough because he’s so long and he stretches it out. There’s no way you’re going to get to it.”

DIME: Daily Fantasy Basketball Diagnosis: 1.25
"Andrea Bargnani posted 36 points, six boards, two assists, two steals, a block and four three-pointers in his mighty comeback from a calf injury. He shot 48 percent (10-21) from the floor, 100 percent (12-12) from the free-throw line and had two turnovers. Bargnani is having himself a solid all-around season with no real signs of a letdown in sight. "

    SLAM: Post Up: Knick Trick
"LaMarcus Aldridge scored 23 points and Marcus Camby grabbed an incredible 22 rebounds to go with 5 blocked shots, as the Blazers finally ended a seven-game Grizzlies winning streak. The rest of the League thanks them. Portland is now 11-7 and 8-1 at home after holding Memphis to 38 percent field goal shooting and outrebounding the Grizz 50-39. Memphis went up 43-42 on back-to-back Rudy Gay dunks, but the Blazers took a 4-point lead into halftime. Portland made 30 of 36 free throws, and at one point in the fourth quarter led by 20 points. OJ Mayo scored 20 points to pace the Grizzlies in 28 bench minutes—Gay was the leading scorer among Memphis starters with just 11 points on 5-of-15 shooting. The rest of the starting lineup? Try these shooting nights on for size: Marc Gasol 2-7, Mike Conley 3-13, Tony Allen 4-10, and Mareese Speights 1-6. The Grizz visit the Clippers on Thursday in primetime."

Hang Time Blog: The Regression Of John Wall
"Wall has talked often about improving his mid-range game, but he’s been flat out awful from mid-range this season. Of the 84 players who have attempted at least 50 shots from mid-rage (between the paint and the 3-point line), Wall ranks 83rd in mid-range shooting percentage, ahead of only Danny Granger."

ESPN: Sources: Danilo Gallinari, Nuggets agree
"Danilo Gallinari and the Denver Nuggets have agreed to a four-year, $42 million contract extension, according to league sources."

ESPN: Fact or Fiction: The Knicks will make the playoffs.
"Fact. The Knicks have issues, but I have a feeling that something will come together eventually ... a trade, a coaching change, ectoplasm left over from 1984's "Ghostbusters" channeling to sway the chances of Baron Davis and his bad back making a difference. You know, normal stuff. "
