Trail Blazers: My 2011 Mock Draft
"A lot of the undergrads and international players have decided against declaring for the draft early. Usually when that happens, the depth of the draft is not the greatest. The players at the top of this year’s draft will help bad teams right away. There are just not as many in that “can’t miss” category like John Wall, Blake Griffin and Kevin Durant of past years. This might be the year for the teams that have been in the lottery a lot in the past few years and have young teams already, to trade their picks for more expensive players that will help their win-loss record immediately. There are a lot of aging teams that have won in the past but are looking to get younger and more athletic with the draft – like San Antonio, Boston and LA – who might give up vets that could give leadership to a young team that is not sure how to win."

Trail Blazers: Trail Blazers Release Cho: Press Conference Transcript
“I think one of the things that’s probably one of the most important things about the GM role is that there has to be a connection and a chemistry with the owner. And not just with the owner but mainly with the owner and with the rest of the management and the reality is in this particular situation there just wasn’t that chemistry.”

Oregon Live: You Be The GM: Brandon Roy
"After a frustrating start to the postseason against the Dallas Mavericks, including going scoreless in just eight minutes in Game 2, Roy bounced back in a big way at the Rose Garden. He scored only two points on 1-for-8 shooting in 34 minutes in the first two games. In Games 3 and 4, Roy showed flashes of his old form, scoring 40 points (15-for-23 FG) in 48 minutes and sparking a historic comeback in the process."

Oregon Live: The Rich Cho firing: Chad Buchanan will step into the ring as interim Blazers GM
"Buchanan, who is in Minneapolis with Born and Rosenberry at an NBA workout featuring draft prospects, said Miller told him about Cho's dismissal Monday morning and he was shocked. Buchanan said decisions about the team will be made "as a group" as he fills in on an interim basis and that the group would be "continuing with the plan that we set forth in recent weeks."

Portland Tribune: Blazers say Cho flunked ‘chemistry’ test with Allen
"We want to get better. We want to deliver a winner to this community, to this city. We feel like there's got to be the right chemistry for that to happen," Miller said."

Rip City Project: Attempting to make sense of Rich Cho’s firing
"The only controversy in which Cho was involved this year was the revelation that he was overruled in his push to suspend Brandon Roy for his comments about his playing time following game two of the Blazers’ first-round series against Dallas. It isn’t a terrific idea to push to suspend a player, especially one as popular as Roy, in the middle of a playoff series, and it especially isn’t wise to go public with this information, but is that really a firable offense? In the grand scheme of things, that’s a minor PR snafu that nobody will talk about in two years."

Blazersedge: What We Learned from the Firing of Rich Cho
"The last two summers should inform the Blazer brass in making the decision on their next General Manager. Unless they change the way they do business they don't need a young, inexperienced potential superstar at this point. The potential risks are too great and the rewards too slim under this system. Neither do they need an established GM in love with his own power and position. They require a return to the old days when nobody heard from the General Manager and half the people didn't remember his name. They need a low-profile consensus-builder with a good sense of organizational dynamics. They need someone who has already made his bones and doesn't see the position as a means to prove his own worth and establish a career. They need someone who knows the league, who has a long-term perspective, and who is willing to deem incremental moves as valuable as radical ones. They need someone who will view his role as advisory instead of autonomous, who is able to make use of the tools already at hand and willing to fit in with the people already in power, letting them shine. "

Ball Don't Lie: A Thunder fan makes her case to marry James Harden
"Kendrick Perkins is a role player, not a star, but his reputation has nonetheless seen the wildest swing in this year's postseason. In April, Perk was seen as a huge difference maker, the man whose trade took the Celtics out of contention and turned the Thunder into a legitimate threat to go all the way. Then the playoffs actually started and Perkins had trouble defending the Nuggets' Nene, the Grizzlies' Marc Gasol, and now the Mavericks' Tyson Chandler. Suddenly, he's something of a weak link."

Ball Don't Lie: Kendrick Perkins is maybe not so great anymore
"Sure, the numbers weren’t great. Kyrie averaged 17.5 points and 4.3 assists per game in 27.5 minutes. He also shot 53 percent from the field, 46 percent from beyond the arc, and 90 percent from the line while almost posting a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio. He can already run the pick and roll with the best of them, making him ready to come in and help a team out from day one. Sure he’s no John Wall or Derrick Rose athletically, but he has the basketball of both of them combined coming into the League."

Ball Don't Lie: Manu Ginobili played with a broken arm
"Manu has earned a reputation as a flopper during his NBA career, but he has played through more injuries than virtually any other person in the league. He may sell fouls beyond what's reasonable, but that doesn't mean he's soft. In fact, he's about as tough as they come."

The Basketball Jones: Video: Kevin Durant is the saddest man ever
"Dag, that’s sad. Kevin Durant looks like Derek Zoolander after he tries to accept Hansel’s award at the VH1 Fashion Awards. In fact, “I Started A Joke” fits pretty well with this clip. If you like terrible, crushing despair, that is."

DIME: NBA Draft: WSU’s Klay Thompson Is 2011′s Best Shooting Guard
"The dude can flat out light it up and is about as mechanically money as you can get for a shooter. He’s got as smooth a shot as anyone in the college game, and more importantly, plays intelligently. If having been born into an NBA pedigree wasn’t already an indication – his father, Mychal Thompson, was a former No. 1 overall pick of Portland in 1978 – the younger Thompson runs the court with an extremely high basketball IQ. And yeah, he’s a deadly spot up slinger, but Thompson’s long frame and dribbling skills also allow him to create space and get to the basket."

    SLAM: Mock Draft: Derrick Williams
"Williams is an imperfect fit for the T’Wolves on paper, but a perfectly logical choice considering how Kahn is “building” his team. As Simmons and guest Chad Ford noted on the podcast, Kahn is assembling assets with what hopefully, for Timberwolves fans, is a master plan toward reviving the franchise. You might think that drafting Williams, who will struggle to define himself as a 3 or a 4 in the League, makes little sense given the improvement seen last year from forwards Michael Beasley and Kevin Love. Yet it would be another development in a pattern of seemingly strange moves from Kahn."

    ESPN: Daily Dime
"Goes for 40 points in the 112-105 OT Game 4 win that put Dallas up 3-1 on OKC in the West finals. Scoring an even dozen in Dallas' 17-2 closing run that forced OT makes him look like a Dirk of Destiny now."
