Trail Blazers: Mavs Recover in Game 5
"Even though the crowd was slow to come around, they finally came alive in the third quarter, about the time that the Mavericks did, and rolled the Blazers 93-82. They're now one win from advancing. The Blazers are one loss from vacation."

Oregon Live: For third consecutive season, Trail Blazers face elimination in Game 6 of a first-round series
"And so, Portland is back in the position they were in the last two seasons, entering a Game 6 of a first-round series trailing 3-2, needing a win to keep the series alive. In Houston in 2009 and against Phoenix at the Rose Garden last season, the Blazers lost Game 6, ending the seasons."

Oregon Live: Dallas 93, Portland 82: Tyson Chandler and the Mavericks reclaim momentum from the Blazers
"We're still feeling confident," Blazers center Marcus Camby said. "The only thing they did was hold serve on their home court. Now we have to go out and do the same thing next ball game. But we can't rely on being home as being the cure-all. We know we have to play a whole lot better."

Portland Tribune: Outworked Blazers lose a Game 5 'we didn't deserve to win'
“We missed a lot of shots, and that led to a lot of their rebounds,” Portland center Marcus Camby said. “We didn’t do a good job of controlling the glass at either end. And our inability to get to the line and get some easy points was the ballgame.”

Rip City Project: Game Five Recap: Mavericks 93, Dallas 82
"But here’s my thing, I’m OK with it. Blazer fans, be honest, this season should be over. I was right there with you when Portland was getting run out of their own building only to comeback in historical fashion. This team is playing with house money right now. You think for a second Dallas believes they can win a game in the Rose Garden? Dirk Nowitzki, following his team’s monumental collapse in game four pointed to the fact that Dallas has two shots at Portland in Dallas. As if to say it’s a foregone conclusion that this series is going the distance. Dallas knows, and Portland knows, the Blazers going in to Monday’s game had two shots left at the Mavericks in Big D. They missed shot number one. That’s all."

Blazersedge: Western Conference Quarterfinals Game 5 Recap: Portland Trail Blazers 82, Dallas Mavericks 93
"Andre Miller lead the team with 18 points on 8-14 shooting with 7 assists. As is often the case he looked like the only Blazer unconcerned with the people in the other uniforms. He wasn't intimidated and he didn't stop driving. He made mincemeat of the Dallas defense at one point, leading one to wonder why his teammates weren't as successful. Part of that was the people defending him and part of it was Dallas intentionally concentrating attention to Portland's bigger scorers, but it's just 'Dre too. He's going to do what he sets his mind to. The rest of the Blazers need a little bit of that."

ESPN: Kings checkmated by money, luck
"During Game 3's satisfying victory, fans hollered for four quarters, worked the refs, heckled Mark Cuban mercilessly, stood and cheered at the right times, brought their energy to another level when their team needed it, then skipped happily out of the arena when it was over. The way they were banging drums, honking horns and chanting "Let's Go Blazers" on the street, you would have thought they just won a Game 7. Some of them headed over to celebrate at Spirit of 77, a perfectly named sports bar because Walton's 1977 team legitimized Portland as a sports city, distinguished it from every other small market and set the tone for everything that followed. Portland might not be the best professional basketball city in America, but it's definitely in the top five."

The Basketball Jones: Welcome Back, Brandon Roy
"Watching Brandon Roy lead his team to victory against the Dallas Mavericks in front of a packed Rose Garden crowd was poetic justice by way of poetry in motion. As Roy drove to the hoop and drilled jumper after jumper, everyone could see why he believed he was still the same player he’d been before knife met knee. That player — Roy the All-Star — is still there, but after a season of strife, is often hidden."

Ball Don't Lie: Tony Allen’s amazing, short-lived Memphis Grizzlies haircut
"Some amazing news came out of the shootaround session before Monday night's pivotal Game 4 in the first-round Western Conference playoff series between the top-seeded San Antonio Spurs and the eighth-seeded Memphis Grizzlies. FOX Sports Memphis radio host Chris Vernon tweeted that Tony Allen — Memphis' starting shooting guard, defensive stalwart, grit/grind folk hero and unlikely spirit animal — had "a Grizzly shaved in the back of his head." Ten minutes after his initial tweet, Vernon stoked anticipation by tweeting that there would be "no pictures" because "Tony wants it to be a surprise when you see it."

ESPN: What happened? Playoffs pack surprise
"Chris Paul has identified some serious vulnerabilities in the Los Angeles Lakers' defense, particularly when Andrew Bynum isn't on the floor. Paul's dribble-penetration is chewing up both the Lakers' perimeter defenders and their backpedaling big men. But if the Lakers had had even a respectable jump-shooting night in Game 4, we're talking about a close-out game on Wednesday."

    ESPN: Daily Dime
"The Nuggets' point man went for a career-playoff-high 27 points, sinking all nine of his free throws, and kept his team from being swept away by the Thunder. The Nugs will need more Ty in OKC."
